Apple and Google impose an insane 30% sales tax on all digital goods sold on every mobile phone in the world. The result – users pay higher prices, start-ups and entire industries get destroyed or never appear. Regulators have been ignoring this absurdity for 10 years. https://t.co/5QqJYyLrME

The solution to end Apple abuse of monopoly power is simple: allow users to install apps directly or via alternative app stores, not just through the Apple-run AppStore that imposes the 30% cut, censorship and lack of privacy. Just replicate how apps get installed on desktops.

They do – and this is one of the reasons I’ve been using Android for the last few years. Unfortunately, Google is trying to make installing self-hosted apps more difficult with Android 11. These companies shouldn’t be allowed to get away with limiting the freedoms of billions.

Your reasoning implies people are stupid and can’t be trusted for their own good. I disagree. The growth of the open ecosystems (Android, Windows, MacOS) shows people are smart and prefer freedom of choice. It is telling that the sales of iPhones are in decline.
